Don’t Look Back In Anger: Oasis’ Cardiff comeback gig emotional, directors say

Southern explained that the brothers “were that estranged that Noel’s youngest sons and Liam’s sons hadn’t met”.

“They were on tour for the whole time and they became like friends and more importantly family,” he said.

“I think that was another huge thing in those barriers coming down between Liam and Noel was that suddenly there’s this togetherness and harmony.”

But it was the Cardiff gig that showed the kind of reception the band could expect to receive from fans old and new as they went back on the road.

“The sense of anticipation was huge,” recalled Southern.

He statedNoel “wasn’t expecting… the emotional response” from fans.

“Looking out at the crowd and seeing three generations of a family out there, and not just fans from back in the day.”

He added: “I’ll never have another experience in my life like the one that we had in Cardiff. It was amazing.”

Directors Will Lovelace and Dylan Southern told The MediaBreak rapidthey want to find the fan who features in the Don’t Look Back in Anger film charting the Gallagher brothers’ reconciliation on stage.

Southern said: “That lad in particular is amazing because he’s just had the experience of his life and he doesn’t k currentlywhat to do with it.

“And we want to find him – there’s a real moment of kindness there because a complete stranger comes over and gives them a hug and I think these shows – we didn’t k currentlywhat we were to expect going out to film them but they really brought out the best in people.”

He went on to say: “What it resulted in and what we didn’t expect is a music documentary that’s actually a feel-good film.

“It’s kind of full of hope and it’s a great thing to be able to put out into the world in the sort of times we’re living in.”

The film-makers had 1,800 hours of raw footage of the band with six weeks of reheasals and 13 shows at their fingertips.
